Sans Ennui

This is just a set of my notes to my self and maybe to others.

Your actions do not exist within a vacuum of existence. Do your best to make decisions that are kind, responsible, productive, and thoughtful. More people than just yourself will benefit from conscientious deeds.

"Excessive caution destroys the soul and the heart, because living is an act of courage, and an act of courage is always an act of love."

— Paulo Coelho, Manuscript Found in Accra

There will be hard decisions to make; there will be distractions and obstacles to overcome; you will get involved and you will get hurt both in body and soul. Life will try to marginalize you and trap you in a role of passive silence and yearning.

But you have strengths and skills beyond the small role that life will try to relegate you to. Refuse the small portions you are offered and demand the world.

Fight for yourself. Be the hero of your own life story, because if you don’t you’re letting someone else determine it for you.

Chin up and soldier on

You are not defined by your faults, but rather, redeemed by your virtues.

"He stepped down, trying not to look long at her, as if she were the sun, yet he saw her, like the sun, even without looking."

— Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Do you feel like you’re up against the world all by yourself?

Good.

That obviously means that you’re the only person who is strong enough and smart enough to take on the challenges that you’re facing. You have all the skill and brains you’ll need; that’s why you don’t even need a sidekick.

The Fates have decided that you are fit to triumph, because the challenges you face match your potential.

"The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials."

Chinese proverb

You are being tested. So fight the good fight. Don’t back down. Stay strong, confident, optimistic and hopeful for the best. It may seem like the hardest thing to do, but one day you will look back at how much you had struggled and how much you had triumphed over. That is when you’ll remember even more that this was a fight worth fighting. You’ll remember that this was the moment you became the hero in your life story.
